Current Research
Below are some of the recent topics we've explored in our lab!
Socio-ecological influences on environmental beliefs and behavior
We have several lines of work that study specific environmental and individual differences that we predict impact people's beliefs about climate and disasters. Further, we are interested in how these factors shape people's policy support and collective action behaviors surrounding environmental issues.
How do we deal with the problem of getting sick?
We are interested in how people handle threats to their health and safety. First, what are important factors that shape how we interpret these threats? Second, how do we react to these threats? Third, how do our motivations to stay healthy shape our social relationships and perceptions?
Community-led research around spatial justice, health, and housing
We are members of the Spatial Justice Collective - a group of researchers from several universities and local communities who work together to answer the questions that community members want examined. It is our hope that the evidence generated by our group's work can serve as useful tools for building community resilience and advocating for policy changes. A current project our group is working on centers around air quality, housing infrastructure, and health in Jacksonville, Florida.
What factors shape mental and physical well-being in college?
We are affiliated with the Health Additions Research Center (HARC) at RIT, and collaborate on a number of projects relevant to student health. We work alongside Drs. Joseph Baschnagel, Stephanic Godleski, Dustin Haraden, and Rebecca Houston to examine these questions through Clinical, Developmental, Neuroscience, and Social Psychological lenses.
Have a research question that you think we would be interested in?
This list of research topics is not exhaustive. We conduct additional research outside of these lines and are always happy to chat more about what we do. We love collaborating with students interestd in SURF and Senior Thesis projects. We also love making research friends at other institutions. If you are interested in collaborating or have any questions, please send us an email!
